Leaning to fly Helis unfortunately means crashing. In my smallest incidents, not even crashes but slight tail spins where the tail blades snag in the grass, these gears have stripped. If the tail stops spinning for any reason, and the main blades are turning, they have enough momentum that something has to give in the process, and this is where it happens for me. These gears strip. I have friends who have their rear gears break, but in my experience it's these that break.
They are easy to replace, but you have to be careful if you replace the torque tube umbrella gear to get the bearings on in the right position so that it'll all snap into place in the keeper. To change these gears you'll need to keep the bearings from the original set, just transfer them over and make note before you remove them of how they were aligned.
I end up keeping spares of each on hand so that is saves me time when I rebuild after an incident. Anyone seriously flying 450 sized...
